My jewellery making journey first began with the desire to be able to make and wear my own bespoke jewellery and be able to express my individuality with some of the beautiful beads I come across on my travels.
Now I find that all the elements of my life and interests come together in what I create... I studied and worked in design for 9 years before retraining as a teacher and teaching a range of subjects, but mostly jewellery making for the past 13 years. Although, I learnt some skills doing silversmithing at college and glass making at a kiln art group, mostly I'm self-taught and my skills, knowledge and designs have developed over time. I'm interested in history, especially our ancient civilizations their beliefs and artwork and try to weave a bit of that magic into my work.
Quiet reflection - daydreaming - whilst walking in the countryside or visiting spiritual and sacred places helps to inspire me. My ideas often first take shape in my dreams. I start by sketching designs, then experiment creating them, turning them into magical and beautiful jewellery.
My main tools are my hands that bend, shape, twist, wrap and hammer copper or sterling silver wire, its then combined with sparkly beads, vintage buttons or fused glass. I love that I get to work with such stunning beads - gorgeous Swarovski crystals, pearls and gemstones - to create the jewelart contemporary and classic jewellery collections.
The alchemy of glass and the magic of how it plays and interacts with light has always fascinated me. I love its ability to combine unique abstract shapes with so much sparkle and beauty. I try to capture these elements and share them with you in my fused glass jewellery collection, each one of them is unique, as no two pieces turn out exactly the same!
You can purchase a selection here on my webshop or if you're in the North-West come and visit my pop-up jewelart display at one of my artisan and designer-maker events. If you are local you can also organise your own pop-up party, I love to share my passion and chat about my work.
Tucked away at my rural Lancashire studio-workshop, my creativity and imagination can run free, the energy of our ancient landscape helps to inspire my work.
You are part of my journey when you purchase jewelart jewellery!
